OK, so it took a bit longer than I expected!

But the awesome List Building System from Alex Jeffreys is now up and running and I’ve learnt so much along the way. Although it took a while – it always does to learn new programs properly – I’ve enjoyed every minute! What a great system. This is really good mentoring.

I know the blog design needs some work done on it, (got to do something with that graphic!) but I’ve installed some great plugins and set up Google Analytics successfully. I’m making progress!

Best of all, I’ve registered and got to grips with Aweber – an essential element of list building management and a great and easy to learn program. I have to say, I’m very impressed with their service. Within 48hrs of setting it all up, I got an unprompted  ’welcome’ phone call just to check I was OK with everything! That was appreciated – a service level we don’t often see here in the UK. I also found their online chat service brilliant when I couldn’t work one thing out.

Thanks also to other students of Alex Jeffreys – some of your blog posts have been awesome and offered great advice. I’ve also found various ‘You Tube’ videos great learning tools, as long as they’ve been put up fairly recently - (I’ve noticed that many relate to old program versions) – but there are great free ‘how to’ videos up there now on most topics.

So I’m still playing catch up with most of the other guys, but I’m getting there, concentrating on my own list building with every evening planned well ahead – mostly about generating traffic now.

Incidently, did I understand correctly from Module 4, that at traffictacticsgold.com that there was some free videos on blogs and plugins etc. to download ? So far for my ‘free membership’, all I can see is a sales page wanting $127. 00 for gold membership and access to the video training. Maybe I’ve got it wrong.

I want to tell you, if you don’t know already, about a great training webinar recording about ‘social Media’ and Web 2.0 with Perry Belcher and Ryan Diass.  This was on ‘live’ at the same time as Alex’s Module 4, so I missed the original broadcast but luckily I got the replay. I found it brilliant and I recommend you watch it as soon as possible. The last bit of course is Perry’s pitch to buy his stuff, which I’ve no doubt will be excellent, but before then there’s really good content and it gave me some great ideas.  At the time of writing, it’s still up, but I don’t know for how much longer.

Hi Everyone (or should I say anyone!),

My name is Simon Perry. It’s January 2nd and I’d like to start by wishing you all a very happy new year.

This is my very first post on my new blog about my journey to learn internet marketing, and I have to say I feel like a dog with a new bone!

I’ve been playing around with this for far too long without really getting stuck in. I’ve bought the DVDs, the courses, the ‘PLRs’, and most of the ‘T-shirts’ etc, – they’re all nicely collecting dust on my office shelf!  I’ve actually gained quite a bit of knowledge, but for some inexplainable reason, I’ve ‘not taken enough action’ despite all the advice. Feel very ashamed!

But at last …….!!!

I’m finally doing something about it (quite pleased with myself really!). I’ll introduce myself with a bit about my background on the ‘About’ page, but through this blog, I want to tell you about a guy who finally made me ‘get off my butt’.

I’ll also tell you exactly how I’ve got up and running, some of the typical ‘challenges’ I’ve met so far (I actually have different names for them!) and how I know I can help any other newbies along the way from my experiences.

We all know that learning internet marketing is a fantastic route to creating a better lifestyle (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this). You’re probably on some of the same ‘guru’ mailing lists as myself, but maybe you’re like I’ve been – a little nervous or reluctant to dip your toes in the water, or you don’t know where to start, or who to believe?

I’m sure a psychologist can explain why until recently, I allowed all the excuses to build up – but I’m proud to say I feel I’ve finally jumped a major hurdle!

So why now?…..

I knew you’d ask that, so I’ll tell you!

Like many of you, I’m currently working full time for an increasingly demanding employer to support my family. But no matter how hard I work, how many hours I put in, the wage packet at the end of the month is the same – and it’s not enough. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful to have a job in this ‘turbulant time’, but I know if I want a better lifestyle for us (and who doesn’t?), I have to do something about it.

One message that has always hit home with me is that if I want to succeed in internet marketing, I need to find myself a good mentor. Trouble is deciding who, and finding someone who I can afford. Some of them charge the earth. I nearly signed up with someone, well known and highly successful, at a London seminar in September for a discounted $5,000 which by most people’s standards is very good value. His usual price is double that.

But luckily I was told about a new mentoring course by a guy named Alex Jeffreys – a fellow Brit, who has himself been mentored by Mike Filsaime and Rich Schefren, two of the biggest names in Internet Marketing.

Alex has already enjoyed tremendous success in just a short couple of years currently earning $20,000 a month and all set to significantly multiply this figure in the coming years – I have no doubt.

Now the course has been running for a few weeks already, and a few personal commitments (too boring to tell you about) have delayed my start, so I’m currently playing ‘catch up’ with my fellow students.

But what I plan to do now is (as Alex himself suggests) is keep you informed of my progress throughout the course, telling you of the bumps along the way, and how I hopefully overcome them. If nothing else, Alex and my fellow students have revived my enthusiasm, got me off my butt, and made me take action! I highly recommend you sign up for his next course whenever that may be. As I said, this is my first post – I’m chuffed to have got this far (better late than never) and I can’t wait to get stuck in deeper as the course progresses. I have to meet my biggest challenge -”finding time”, but it’s a new year resolution and I invite you to follow me, – it’ll make me accountable! – and I promise to pass on any tips I can throughout this journey on how I learn internet marketing.
